Cooling and refreshing
Mint (Mentha) is named after the Greek nymph ‘Minthe,’ which means ‘green’. There are many varieties of mint of the Labiatae plant family, but our fresh mint is Mentha piperita or peppermint.
Description
Mints are native to the Near East, these herbs are now grown all over the world.
Mint was used in ancient times for many different purposes and is still used today in teas, iced drinks, and salads. Herbalists use it externally to treat itching skin conditions, burns, ringworm, and respiratory tract infections.
It is well known for its strong and cooling flavour and smell; this is mainly due to the menthol present in the plant. Menthol is antiseptic and cooling.
The fresh mint leaves share properties with the peppermint essential oil that we use in our perfume.
We use fresh, organic mint leaves that are grown locally, the leaves are stripped from the stalks and blended straight into our products.
